Mayfield School is a successful and popular school catering for pupils between the ages of 2-19 with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties.
We are currently seeking an exceptional and hardworking individual to join our catering team, based at our 6th form site in Paignton. Duties include:
- Working with the school’s kitchen manager to ensure meals are of a high quality and in line with Government Health Food Standards.
- Controlling stock and ordering supplies from the schools nominated suppliers.
- Preparing and cooking meals
- Serving meals
- Carrying out general kitchen duties
- Helping to set up the dining hall
Part of the role will require you to interact closely with the young adults at the 6th form, who provide help in the kitchen. The students will be supported by adult assistants.
The role is for 20 hour per week, 10am - 2pm, Monday - Friday and for term time only (38 weeks of the year). Holiday pay is included in the salary stated.
We are looking for candidates who are keen, motivated, caring and are able to work under their own direction but also as part of a wider school team and is able to work at a high pace and bale to produce high quality food.
Successful applicants will have experience of working in the food industry and in particular a busy kitchen environment. You will have a sound knowledge of food hygiene and experience of preparing and cooking meals with relevant experience in a similar role.
Interviews will be conducted virtually via Zoom on Wednesday 22nd July, starting at 10am on a rota. Please be aware this will be the only interview period.
