Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to appoint an exceptional, driven and enthusiastic Primary Class Teacher with a passion for learning and the desire to maximise the potential of each child. At St Wystan's, the family ethos is at the heart of our education and pastoral care. Although small, both in school roll and class sizes, our school aspires to produce pupils of exceptional talent, brimming full of confidence, who have been treated very much as individuals.

Set in the heart of the village of Repton in Derbyshire, St Wystan's School provides an inclusive all-round education for children from 2½ to 11. As a coeducational independent school, we are proud to offer young people an extensive range of opportunities and experiences within a secure, vibrant and happy nurturing environment.

St Wystan's School is steeped in history and since its creation in 1926 it has continued to develop within its surroundings, becoming both traditional in its philosophy and forward thinking in its approach to children's education. St Wystan’s School has recently appointed a new Head Teacher and it is now a very exciting time to be joining our dynamic and dedicated team.

St Wystan’s strives to develop the whole child and provides education that extends far beyond our curriculum. Our family school has a very special atmosphere; a calm, secure, happy environment based on respect for each other and our environment. Children are always actively encouraged to think for themselves. We seek to equip children with the skills, attitudes and experiences which will carry them through happy, successful and fulfilling lives, whilst encouraging the importance of sport, music, art and drama. We have the highest possible aspirations for our staff and pupils.

We would be delighted to welcome you to our school ‘where children come first’.

Applications should reach the school no later than Thursday 28th September 2017.

Interviews will be held Friday 6th October 2017.

To apply, please call Mrs. Helen Islip on 01283 703258 or e-mail: bursar@stwystans.org.uk for an application form, or download the application pack.

St Wystan's School is a registered charity.

St Wystan’s School is an independent ISA day school for boys & girls aged 2½-11 and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All staff are expected to share and support this commitment, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

At St Wystan’s, every child is recognised and cherished for their individual strengths and characteristics, in an inspiring teaching and learning environment. Small class sizes encourage a thirst for learning where pupils and staff have warm, respectful relationships. The children enjoy going to school and the staff relish having the opportunity to share laughter, adventures and interests. Indeed, each pupil’s individual talents and strengths are recognised and utilised ensuring all achieve their full potential, in a vibrant, busy yet nurturing environment.

St Wystan’s is a thriving non-selective school that prides itself on its reputation for producing happy, confident and successful children. Each individual in our school community is extremely special to us and we continually strive to create a varied and stimulating environment for boys and girls aged 2½ to 11, so they can develop, be happy and flourish. Specialist teaching in Music, Physical Education and French are introduced from Nursery through to Year 6 and we are proud of our strong pastoral care and extra-curricular activities.

Our school was founded in 1926 and is situated in the heart of Repton. St Wystan’s School and Nursery prides itself in providing outstanding holistic education, equipping pupils not only with strong academic standards and behaviour, but also the essential qualities and skills required beyond their time at our school. In September 2020 we were delighted to become part of the Repton School family, giving us the benefits of being part of a larger organisation, whilst allowing us to maintain our individual ethos and identity. We are proud of our strong links with many local secondary Independent and State schools. Our children have an excellent reputation for securing scholarship offers and securing first choice secondary schools at a time in which a child’s true academic potential can be accurately predicted and talents in other areas acknowledged.
