Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced graduate teacher to join us as a Key Stage 1 Phase Leader and Literacy or Numeracy Curriculum Development Leader. You will be employed by the States of Guernsey and will be required to make a full contribution to the ethos, identity and life of Vauvert Primary School.

As our Key Stage 1 Leader, you will play a key strategic role in the continued success of the school. This will be achieved through the use of highly effective leadership, management and organisational skills, in collaboration with all staff members, and close working relationship with the Senior Leadership Team and your Phase Team in particular.

To be successful, you will know when to lead, when to follow, when to intervene, when to support and when to challenge. You will also need to be very aware of the different personalities of the individuals in your immediate Phase Team, as well as the wider school staff, in order to ensure the improvements in the school are mutually successful.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our dedicated school. We are very proud that our school is a caring and special place where children grow, learn and flourish. We enjoy a co-operative and mutually respectful staff team where the children are at the centre of everything we do. This is based upon our understanding of the pupils in our school, their needs and their interests, and what makes for the best learning and best teaching.

At Vauvert Primary School, each member of staff will use the best skills and strategies to promote each child’s success. Each staff member will want to improve their teaching, in order to improve each pupil’s learning, by focussing on Personal Best, and we will look to you to play a key part in this work.

This post carries a five year housing licence. If appointed, you can expect to:

  • Work in a well-resourced school that follows an innovative Bailiwick curriculum based on the English National Curriculum and which has favourable PTRs;
  • Be part of a leading development of ICT in education and be allocated a personal laptop;
  • Receive a generous relocation package to the island, including rent allowance;
  • Enjoy the benefits of more generous tax allowances on an island with no VAT.

Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged. To arrange a time and date, please contact us on 01481 720419.
