KS1 Teacher to start January 2019

(with the possibility of Maths Co-Ordinator role)

Full-time, Term Time Only (plus 3 days either side of term)

Salary based on experience/qualifications

Shrewsbury House Pre-Prep School (formerly known as Shrewsbury Lodge School) in Esher, Surrey is an independent day school for boys and girls aged from three to seven years. It was founded in 1912 and is part of the Shrewsbury House School Trust and is administered by a Board of Governors. It is a happy school with a welcoming environment.

From January 2019, Shrewsbury House Pre-Prep School, part of The Shrewsbury House School Trust, has an exciting opportunity for a KS1 Teacher to come and be a part of the school’s future.  The role will involve taking on the teaching of a class of children and providing pastoral care and support for them to enable learning to take place within a secure, caring environment.  Planning, preparation, record-keeping, assessment and reporting form key components of the role, ensuring that the needs of each individual child are met.  A Maths co-ordinator role could form part of the post for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to develop this area across the school, though it’s not a specific requirement for applicants.

The candidate should have a passion to inspire the children and to engage positively with them.  A determination to establish good relationships with the children, their parents and with colleagues and to make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school is important. A willingness to engage in ongoing professional development, a sound work ethic, an imaginative mind, a calm manner, and a good sense of humour would all be useful attributes for the role.

In return we can offer you:

• Generous terms and conditions of employment on the Shrewsbury House Pre-Prep Teaching Payscale with membership of the Teacher Pension Scheme. Starting salary will be determined by level of relevant experience and qualifications.

• Opportunities to develop your career.

• Support from friendly, caring and professional colleagues.

• A small school environment, with small class sizes, where you really get to know the children as individuals.

• Other benefits such as free lunch during term time.

If you would like further details, please visit the School website or email Jon Akhurst, Head.

Job description, information on the school and application form can be found on the school’s external website by clicking on ‘Vacancies’. Applications should be emailed to the HR Administrator by the closing date of Monday 12th November but applicants will be considered as they are received and the school reserves the right to appoint at any point during the application process.
