  • A highly skilled team player who can lead, manage and motivate a very supportive team of educational professionals.
  • A person who can represent the views and opinions of others and be seen as a ‘voice’ for their team at meetings whilst balancing, respecting and understanding the views of others and the senior leadership team.
  • Able to understand and appreciate the complex nature of school leadership by considering and preparing in advance solutions to Year Group problems where possible.
  • A highly effective Year Group Leader is also able to respond to their respective teams in a manner that supports the school view alongside those of their colleagues.
  • Excellent communicators who are approachable, thoughtful and reliable and who can seek advice when needed.
  • Ambassadors for their Year Group who can be relied on, even at times of high stress and pressure, to help, support and lead when required.
  • Very professional in their dealings with children, parents, staff and the wider community and understand, support and value the mission, vision and core values of the school.

We are particularly interested in teachers who have experience with facilitating play-based, active learning in Key Stage 1 as this is one of the areas we are currently developing at the Infant School. For further details of the role and to find out more about what it is like to work at the Infant School, please refer to our booklet Working at the Infant School.

The British School of Amsterdam is an independent co-educational non-profit day school providing world class learning for children from 3 to 18 years. Currently based on three campuses in the south of the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, the school is organised into four sections: Early Years (3-5 years), Infant (5-7), Junior (7-11) and Senior (11-18 ) each with its own head and team of staff. We currently have 930 pupils across the school. The British School of Amsterdam is directed by the Senior Leadership Team comprising the Principal, Bursar and the heads of the Early Years, Infant, Junior and Senior schools.

We are, proudly, a non-selective school with high expectations of all pupils and staff. Our staff are the school's greatest asset; they are professional, caring, committed and work together, whatever their role, to provide the best possible education for the children in our care.

We are a member of COBIS and accredited by the UK Government as a British School Overseas offering the National Curriculum for England leading to IGCSEs and A-Levels. The most recent inspection report from November 2017 can be found here.
