Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, passionate KS2/3 teacher (with a strong working knowledge of the KS2 and KS3 English Curriculum) to join a forward-thinking and innovative team to work as a Steps to Success teacher at Gable Hall School.

Steps to Success Rationale

Offering a tailored curriculum which enables students to achieve high levels of progress and social accountability. The programme ensures consistency of approach to teaching, shared language of learning, improved literacy skills, improved social skills and improved organisational skills.

Aim to do this by:

• reducing the number of teachers

• reducing the number of room changes during learning time

• reducing the number of sets they will be taught in.

• increase the literacy framework of support through which the other subjects are taught

• increasing the adult to student ratio by including the same LSA for their lessons to help meet their needs

• increasing the availability of ICT during lessons

• interventions within and outside of lessons (e.g. Lexia)

• increasing the parental engagement of the pupils involved (sharing in their children’s learning)

19 lessons with the same teacher including English, History, Geography, RE, PSHE and Citizenship. Rest of the timetable will be made up of other subjects including English, so a strong working knowledge of the KS2 and KS3 English Curriculum is needed.

Are you:

- an outstanding KS2/3 Teacher with a strong working knowledge of the KS2&3 English Curriculum?

- a committed team player?

- dedicated to raising standards?

We will provide:

- a supportive environment

- exceptional induction

- first rate opportunities for personalised continual professional development

- the opportunity to teach across the ability range and at Key Stages 3/4/5

- highly motivated students who are keen to be successful

- Staff pension

If you have the drive to transform learning for our wonderful students, we want to hear from you.

AIMS, CULTURES & ETHOS

The staff and Governors of Gable Hall have produced a statement of aims and objectives which will be realised through the curriculum, organisation and ethos of the School. The curriculum, which is broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated, has been designed within the framework of the National Curriculum to meet the needs of individual pupils.

Specifically we aim:

to give pupils the experience of school as a caring, supportive community where life is enjoyable and where there is equal provision regardless of sex, race or culture.

to enable pupils to develop as fully as possible their abilities, interests and aptitudes and to make additional provision if necessary for those who are in any way disadvantaged.

to help pupils to develop lively, enquiring minds, to be capable of independent thought and to experience enjoyment in learning so that they may be encouraged to take advantage of educational opportunities in later life.

to develop appropriate skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT.

to ensure contact with those areas of knowledge and experience which will help pupils to know more about themselves and the society in which they live, to respect religious and moral values and be tolerant of other races, religions, and ways of life.

to work in ways which will enhance the self-respect and confidence of pupils and encourage them to take responsibility for themselves and their activities.

to establish a partnership between the School and the community it serves and to develop understanding of the wider community and of the ways in which individuals and groups relate.

to give pupils the skills necessary to respond effectively to social, economic and political change and to changing patterns of work

to encourage an appreciation of and a concern for the environment.
