What our school offers:

Saba Verda British International School is situated just outside the city of Tortosa in the Ebro valley in the south of Catalonia. Our school is located in a rural setting with stunning views over the Ebro delta, in a mediterrenean climate with a range of small towns an villages in our area.

We are a small school that first opened its doors in September 2018.

Even with the global pandemic and it's impact on day-to-day life our popularity is growing and we are expanding rapidly. Currently we have 87 pupils spread over EYFS, KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4 (till year 9), and we are expecting to expand to around 110 pupils in 2022/23, our maximum capacity is around 140.

We are an ambitious, friendly, flexible and well functioning team, we aim to teach skills, process and a passion for literature. Being a small school we have a "family-like" environment where older pupils are mixing with younger pupils. We always help each other with both practical tasks, planning and general support. We have ample space and many possibilities for outdoor activities. Our school day runs between 8.30am to 3pm.

Our ratios are small, in primary our maximum is 15, in secondary 18. As well as offering more traditional lessons, we create cross curricular projects, that aim to teach subjects with a focus on process and real life content. We teach using ”Experience-led learning”, in some of our classes we use manipulative materials, in maths we follow the Numicon system, and in science, computing and robotics we utilise modern materials and technologies to ensure diversity in our teaching.

We are looking for:

We are looking to hire a teacher with a proficient or native level of English and a PGCE, BEd, or as a minimum a QTS.

The ideal candidate will have some years of experience from teaching in the UK or The Republic of Ireland. As we are a small school you would teach various subjects, English is a must, but all of our primary teachers teach a range of subjects. If you have a specific interests i.e. skills in singing, music, PE, arts, history or other subjects it would be an advantage.

We are looking for a driven, ambitious, flexible, independent and innovative teacher, who thrives in an environment of cooperation, who is willing to create bold and challenging projects and is happy when given the opportunity to develop professionally.
