Wingate School is a family owned, selective school in the South of Tenerife open for over 35 years. We are rapidly growing and expanding school over subscribed in all Infant and Junior classes. Class sizes are a maximum of 24 in all years.

Wingate School is seeking to recruit an energetic, dynamic and dedicated KS2 class teacher who would embrace the role at our unique school, delivering a balanced and relevant programme based on the British National Curriculum.  You will be working within a great team and playing a key role in our Primary department.  We are looking for a candidate who has the ability to show initiative in delivering the curriculum and a keen interest in Maths would be an advantage but not essential.

The successful candidate would be expected to

  • Organise learning resources and the classroom learning environment
  • Develop and foster the appropriate  skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children according to age, ability and aptitude
  • Assess and record progress and prepare pupils for examinations
  • Challenge and inspire pupils to deepen their knowledge and understanding

Wingate School has an extremely low staff turn-over and this is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated, professional teaching team directing the learning of motivated and conscientious students.

About Wingate School

Founded in 1982 by Chris and Margaret Green and initially only had seven students.

Wingate School is a British International school in Arona, Tenerife, Spain. Achieving a rating of "Outstanding" by PENTA inspectors in 2023.

Teaching from Foundation to Sixth Form with approximately 400 students in attendance.

With a multi-cultural community, with over 20 different nationalities and a maximum of 24 children per class.

The school promotes strong family values. It aims to foster independent, self-reliant learners who have a strong sense of self. They want to prepare students to work hard to achieve their full potential and to encourage them to make positive contributions to society.

Wingate School follows the UK National Curriculum with added Spanish Studies.  External examinations are IGCSE and A level exams with exam board Pearson -Edexcel

Extra-curriculars are also given an important role in the curriculum.

P.E as well as other sports are encouraged, external speakers and excursions are planned to supplement the students’ academic learning.

Activities such as drama and fundraising activities are also available.
