Position:         KS2 Class Teacher

Location:         Smallbrook School, Shrewsbury

Hours:            37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 9am - 4.30pm

Salary:            £28,000 - £38,000 per annum

Contract:        Permanent; Term Time Only 

We are looking for an experienced KS2 Class Teacher to join our fantastic team at Smallbrook School.

The role

We are looking for a creative, active and open-minded KS2 Class Teacher to join our family feel team. You must have a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring even the most challenging of minds and behaviours. We are looking for candidates, who want to get involved, have their ideas heard, aren’t afraid of getting dirty on the farm or in workshops and who are resilient, active and caring.

Ideally, you will be a creative thinker and be able to turn the core curriculum into a fun and engaging subject. There will be usual classroom lessons but also an expectation to use an alternative teaching approach on the farm and in workshops. Previous experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) isn’t essential but it is preferred. If you have no experience, please research Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and the challenges it presents. We are looking for qualified teachers for this position, PGCE or QTLS.

Purpose of Job

  • To secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Assistant Head
  • Improve the quality of pupils’ learning in KS2
  • Contribute to the development and innovation and / or implementation of KS2 policy and procedure
  • Have lead responsibility for KS2 and develop plans which identify clear targets and success criteria for its development and / or maintenance
  • Teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum. Work may sometimes be undertaken outside the main teaching area - this may include off site locations including college settings
  • In consultation with the Assistant Head undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum
  • To share the school’s responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development and well-being of all students

Smallbrook School is an SEMH specialist provision which caters for up to 50 students working in groups of up to 3 students per class from 7 - 18 years of age. Our teachers are not overburdened by marking and our emphasis is on outstanding planning in a nurturing environment and building strong relationships with our students.

Our School is based halfway between Shrewsbury and Wem in Shropshire.
