Job overview

We are seeking a well-qualified and highly-skilled Primary-trained teacher to teach Science and English lessons to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils in the Prep School. The successful candidate should be able to teach, inspire and motivate pupils through a diverse range of learning styles. They should consistently model excellent practice, have proven classroom management skills and be able to make a significant contribution to this busy and vibrant part of the school.

This is a full-time Maternity Cover role that we expect to last for up to one year. In addition to the main teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to take on Form Tutor responsibility and play a full part in the co-curricular life of the Prep School including having an enthusiasm and willingness to assist with and attend departmental trips and events.

Closing date: Monday, 20 February 2023 at 12 noon. Applications will, however, be reviewed as they arrive and interviews may be held ahead of the closing date. Please note: Early applications are welcome. The school reserves the right to appoint at any stage of the application process.

Interview dates: w/c 27 February 2023 or earlier for early applicants. As part of the interview process all candidates will be required to teach an academic lesson. Preparation work in advance of the class lesson will be required and details will be provided prior to interview.

About The Harrodian School

The Harrodian School is a mixed, non-denominational all-through independent day school situated in Barnes, South West London. The Harrodian School was founded by Lady Eliana and Sir Alford Houston-Boswell and opened in 1993. The school’s original intake of 65 students has expanded to over 900 students from the ages of 4-18. It offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a music centre, drama studios and expansive grounds.
