The Chiltern Hills Academy invites applications for an exciting opportunity to join the staff of a successful, mixed 11-18 Church of England Academy in the Chiltern Hills, conveniently situated at the end of the London Underground Metropolitan Line.

We are seeking to appoint a hardworking, energetic and enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills to join our busy Student Services team and support the KS3 Academic Year Leaders. The main focus of the role will be to strengthen the pastoral support between student, family and school to remove any barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and administrative skills and have the ability to deal with minor student behavioural issues. A working knowledge of a school environment, policies and procedures would be a distinct advantage. The post holder will be situated in the main school office and as such will be expected to carry out their duties against a background of constant interruption and conflicting demands so the ability to multi task is vital.

We have been graded ‘good’ following our latest SIAMS inspection (March 2020). “The academy is highly inclusive, and tireless in supporting all of its pupils and staff. Because of this, each person is known, nurtured and inspired. This enables them to make strong progress from their starting points”. Our OFSTED inspection in February 2017 also judged the school as ‘good’ in all categories.

We have embarked on the next stage of our school development to accommodate growing numbers and add to our well-resourced teaching environment. Do have a look at our website for further details. Please contact Mrs Mistry, HR Administrator, to arrange a tour of the school and to answer any questions you may have.

Completed applications should be submitted to Mrs Jo Mistry, by email jmistry@chacademy.co.uk and should include a letter indicating your strengths for this position.

Closing date for applications: Midday on Wednesday 8 December 2021

Interview date: Wednesday 15 December 2021

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. All staff appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

There are circa 1025 students on the school roll, approximately 100 of whom study in the Sixth Form. Chiltern Hills Academy converted to academy status in 2011 and is jointly sponsored by the Diocese of Oxford and Buckinghamshire Council.

Values and vision

Chiltern Hills Academy aims to provide an environment that excites, motivates and challenges students, encouraging lifelong learning and an interest in the world around them. The secondary school is founded on Christian values and principles, with an ethos that promotes personal responsibility, self-respect, respect for the beliefs and views of others, self-confidence and a commitment to success and achievement. We foster an environment within which all young people develop the moral and spiritual values which help them to become active, thoughtful and considerate citizens.

Ofsted report

"The headteacher, leadership team and the governing body are clear about the strengths and weaknesses of the school. Their plans and actions have improved current pupils' knowledge and understanding".

"The school's values of 'respect, compassion, self-discipline, love, honesty, hope and forgiveness' are inherent in both pupils and staff. As a result, pupils understand the need for tolerance, democracy and justice in modern British society".
