KS3 Class Teacher

Presfield High School and Specialist CollegeSefton

We are looking for an outstanding KS3 Class teacher with QTS to join our fantastic team at Presfield High School.

As a specialist provision for students on the Autistic Spectrum we value our life skills curriculum and how important it is to support our students' understanding of the world.

We are looking for someone with a keen interest in outdoor education and pursuits to lead and develop a programme of experiences that will provide our students with cultural capital and character education opportunities. The sourcing, planning and delivery of residentials across the whole school and Sixth Form is a key aspect to this role.

As a Class Teacher in KS3, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises children’s achievement and ability to develop. When it comes to looking after our students, we never settle for second best.

We are looking for a Class Teacher, to deliver aspects of KS3 Maths and/or English. You must also share our vision of changing lives and shaping futures by empowering vulnerable young people to be happy and valued by society. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

We welcome applications of all ranges of experience including NQT.

About Us

Presfield High School is an oversubscribed specialist provision which caters for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism from age 11 through to 19.  All our 110 students have an EHCP which identifies Autism as their primary need. We are advocates of Dr Stephen Shore’s belief that “If you have met one child with autism you have met ONE child with autism”. This underpins all that we do and we are committed to challenging the stereotypical views that are often associated with Autism.

We passionately believe in empowering our students and their families to advocate for their individual needs, to support them to make meaningful contributions to society and to gain employment if that is their chosen destination. This is demonstrated in our diverse curriculum that promotes an aspirational academic and social pathway.

We are committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of Children and Young People and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All successful applicants will be requested to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Due to the nature of the work involved, this post is "exempt" from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Interested candidates are welcome to attend for an informal tour around the school, however due to COVID-19, tours will be conducted after 3.30pm and candidates will be required to wear a face covering whilst on school premises.
