Birchfield School is an independent preparatory and senior school for boys and girls aged 4-16 in a rural setting and is a member of ISA. We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified teacher with a specialism in teaching Mathematics. The teacher would be responsible for teaching KS3 Mathematics as well as supporting the delivery of Games across the Prep and Senior School and PSHE in Senior School.

Responsibilities as a Teacher :
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons to KS3 students, ensuring lessons are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the National Curriculum.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupils' progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Set clear learning objectives and create differentiated lesson plans to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs or high prior attainment.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including ICT, to enhance learning and maintain pupil engagement.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages pupils to achieve their full potential.
- Promote high standards of behaviour and discipline in line with school policies.
- Contribute to the development of the Mathematics curriculum and participate in departmental planning and meetings.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupils' progress and achievements.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, such as Mathematics clubs or competitions, to enrich pupils' learning experiences.
- To be aware of recent curriculum developments.
- To complete grade cards and written reports for the children in the class.
- To be responsible for general form room tidiness and displays of work.
Professional Development:
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.
Person Specification:
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching Mathematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate pupils of varying abilities.
- Commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the classroom.
- To teach relevant academic and social material and encourage each pupil to achieve their full potential in line with the aims and high standards of the school.
- To meet the children’s emotional and physical needs and to ensure their safety and welfare.
Flexibility
· To carry out any tasks or duties as requested by the Headmistress in line with the role.
Safeguarding
· To be aware of and implement the measures detailed within the School’s Safeguarding Policy and to work with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure the welfare and well-being of all pupils in their care.
