KS3 Teacher (Primary school teachers with experience at Year 5/6 are welcome to apply) SCH 00119
Mayesbrook Park School provides alternative provision for secondary school students aged 11-16 in Barking and Dagenham. There are three campuses and this post is based at our Seabrook campus which is for KS3 students. There are up to 24 students on site, most of whom are on our pioneering (six week) "Positive Return" programme. There is also a smaller longer term programme (up to twenty weeks) "Positive Future" for students who are in the process of being assessed for EHCPs. Some of students are very able and some have special educational needs (SEND), mainly SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) and several have low literacy levels. They are all referred to Seabrook because they are in danger of permanent exclusion from their mainstream school.
We are looking for a well organised and enthusiastic teacher who relishes the opportunity to teach a number of different subjects at KS3, including English and/or Maths. They should also be able to lead practical activity sessions that we run in the afternoons (such as gardening, first aid, cooking, film making and sport) and be willing to undertake a range of operational activities necessary for the running of our small provision. This is an excellent and rewarding opportunity for a teacher who has the flexibility, the creativity, the empathy and the dedication to support and inspire our young people to engage in education.
The successful applicant will become a part of a small, dynamic team of teachers and TA's at Seabrook and a larger team of skilled and experienced staff at Mayesbrook Park School.
This role will give you the opportunity to make a real difference to young people's lives and provide immense job satisfaction. You will receive a high level of support from our leadership team and our excellent staff development programme. You will also benefit from the strong and productive links we maintain with local schools and with other Pupil Referral Units in the area.
Visits to the Campus are encouraged and can be arranged by contacting the Head of Seabrook, Peter Campling on 020 8724 8616 or 020 8724 8343 or by email:
