Language Assessment Consultant/IELTS Examiner

The British Council is recruiting IELTS examiners in China to be based in our four regional offices. This presents an exciting opportunity for TESOL professionals to work in the world’s biggest and most dynamic English language assessment environment.

Your role

Based at one of our offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Chongqing, you will travel to a variety of locations across china and assess local students in their English. This will involve long-distance travelling and extended stays away from your base city. Other components of the role involves marking writing scripts and taking on second marketing tasks.

A flexible working model with six working days a month will with multiple opportunities take on additional days to boost your income. This flexible working model puts you be in-charge of your own income and free time.

What you will need

• A Bachelor’s Degree
• A relevant TESL/TEFL qualification (Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent) and at least three years of teaching English as a second language to adults.
• A flexible attitude and a self-starter.
• You don’t mind heavy travel throughout China by plane, train and bus.
• Knowledge of Mandarin is not required but will be useful. There will also be opportunities to learn Mandarin if you wish to.
