Role: Language Tutor

Leeds City Academy values the skills of all bilingual students and seeks to support those students able to undertake a Heritage Language GCSE by providing tuition to enable students to maximise their potential. 

Tutor will work term time only, 1 or 2 hours weekly; will be paid £25 per hour for delivering lessons and £25 per hour for marking students work.

As a tutor you will be working closely with secondary school students in either 1:1 or in small groups. 

Leeds City Academy seeks to appoint a GCSE tutor of the following languages to start immediately:

Arabic: 4 hours per week or 2 post at 2 hours per week until July 2022

French: 1 hour per week until July 2022

Greek: 1 hour per week for 12 weeks only

Italian: 1 hour per week until July 2022

Panjabi (Gurmikhi): 1 hour per week for 12 weeks only

Polish: 1 hour per week for 12 weeks only

Portuguese: 2 hours per week until July 2022

Russian: 1 hour per week until July 2022

Urdu: 1 hour per week until July 2022

Chinese Mandarin: TBC – please ask for more details 

Turkish: 1 hour per week for 12 weeks only

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Candidates must be able to work flexibly, in-class or possibly providing on-line tutoring.

• Must have a good standard of English and be fluent/native speaker in the appropriate language/s

• Uphold and implement all whole-Academy policies in the discharge of duties of the post

• In conjunction with the Principal, and AP T&L, plan the offer of appropriate courses within the curriculum area.

• Contribute to the compilation of Academy SEF themes.

• Report on Standards and Progress in the area by tracking through the year and producing summative reports as required.

• Ensure good progress for all students within groups taught through the planning and preparation of high quality lessons which engage, motivate and support learners and adhere to the Academy Teaching and Learning Standard.

• Strive to deliver a consistently good standard of teaching.

• Take responsibility within own teaching areas and in the execution of general duties for the creation of a positive climate for learning which results in positive, respectful attitudes from students.

• Consistently apply the academy behaviour policy to support all colleagues in establishing high standards of behaviour from students, and in order that students have parity of treatment and expectations in all areas of the academy.

• Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students within the Subject and Academy Monitoring and Evaluation schedule.
