The St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust seeks to appoint a full time Lay Chaplain to work across the secondary school of St Thomas More in Buxton and three local primaries St Anne’s Buxton, St Mary’s New Mills and St Mary’s Marple Bridge.

This new position is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and practicing Catholic to help guide children and young people in their Catholic faith in both a primary and secondary school context. Their time would be split as three days in St Thomas More, one day in St Anne’s Buxton, and a day a fortnight at both St Mary’s New Mills and St Mary’s Marple Bridge.

It is the hope that the appointment of a Lay Chaplain will help empower the children and young people of the area to explore their faith more and take a leading role in shaping how this is celebrated in both the schools and local parishes.

This is a reserved post within a Catholic school and the successful candidate would need to be a practising Catholic. The Lay Chaplain would work alongside experienced and dedicated staff in each school in animating the Religious Education, Catholic Life and Collective worship of the schools and would have regular mentor meetings with the Lead Lay Chaplain of the St Ralph Sherwin CMAT to help them flourish in their new role.
