Edward Peake School was named in honour of a local philanthropist who, in the days when education was by no means a right for our local children, made a permanent bequest by which a school teacher could be paid and children from poor families receive an education. Although little else is known about Edward Peake, it is right that his generosity and far-sightedness is commemorated in the name of our school. Edward Peake Middle School has served the communities of Biggleswade, Caldecote, Dunton, Northill and Ickwell for almost thirty years and has always had a reputation for inclusiveness.

Edward Peake is part of a pyramid of schools which feed neighbouring Stratton Upper School. We are proud to feel part of the increasing success of the pyramid in raising our children’s achievements in their public examinations at 16 and 18.

Children join middle school half way through Key Stage 2 and leave just two and half terms before being tested at the end of Key Stage 3. Because Key Stage 1 and part of Key Stage 2 is delivered by lower schools and Key Stage 3 is also concluded in the upper school it places great emphasis upon effective liaison in order to achieve continuity and progression.

We believe that the education we offer at Edward Peake gives our children a firm foundation for the next stage of their education.

Purpose and Aims

“Tomorrow Today” (E.P. School Council Mission Statement 2007)

The Purpose of Edward Peake C of E (V.C.) Middle School:

To ensure through the promotion of Christian values and the Every Child Matters Agenda that all children experience a quality of care and consideration within a safe community that enables them to develop their sense of personal worth and identity as a citizen.

To ensure that all children experience a quality curriculum, at both Key Stages, which is relative to their needs and of sufficient breadth and depth to enable them to make the best use of their talents and abilities in whatever field of expertise to which they may aspire.
