The Candidate
We are looking for a candidate with Local Authority SEND leadership experience. The successful candidate will have in-depth SEND knowledge including up to date statutory guidance. You will have experience of managing all processes such as Tribunals/SEND, EHCP/Annual Review, short breaks and High Needs Funding/DSG.You will have a proven track record of leading large operational service areas.
We are looking for someone who understands ‘high quality’ practice and customer service and can effectively work with others and in a culture of high support and challenge; experienced in delivering sustained improvements and leading a complex and multifaceted portfolio.
The Role
The Lead for Statutory Area (SEND) is responsible for ensuring the Council fulfils its statutory duties for the education of children and young people with SEND aged from 0 to 25 years. The role will lead and manage the processes and arrangements associated with all of the key stages in the statutory assessment, planning and preparation of Education, Health and Care needs assessments and plans. The role will advise on funding, commissioning and monitoring of SEND provision and ensure spends are appropriately monitored. The role will represent the Local Authority in mediation, tribunals and other redress processes. The role will be responsible for leading the service through a transformation project and providing the foundations to which staff can develop and grow into future leaders.
