We are looking to appoint a NCfE Lead Practitioner / Advance Skills Teacher for Primary Maths to join our existing team at GEMS Wesgreen International School for the start of the '21-22 academic year. The school has a focus on high academic standards, computational thinking, social and emotional education as well as inclusivity to allow all students to succeed through a range of academic and vocational pathways.

Be part of the Middle Leadership Team, taking a leadership role in developing, implementing and evaluating policies and practice in the Primary department from Years 1 to 6 with over 80 teachers.  You should expect to spend 50% of your week team teaching, demonstrating and actively driving improvements in teaching and learning.  

The position is an out of class role that will involve:

  • Coaching, mentoring and induction of teachers, including NQTs and International teachers new to the NCfE
  • Disseminating materials and advising on practice, research and CPD provision
  • Assessment and impact evaluation, including through demonstration lessons and classroom observation
  • Supporting the school in provision of high-quality schemes of work
  • Helping teachers who are experiencing difficulties

Essential Skills and minimum requirements:

  • A fully certified teacher, holding a B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent specialising in Maths or extensive experience leading change in these areas 
  • At least 5 years of NCfE experience
  • Be an outstanding teacher with recent classroom experience
  • Possess the analytical, interpersonal and organisational skills necessary to work effectively with staff, both Western trained and internationally trained
  • Some experience in coaching and supporting staff development with a track record of moving staff to become good teachers
  • Data Analysis Skills
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude with energy and resilience
  • Passion about providing outstanding teaching and learning and be an outstanding practitioner
