The JCB Academy was established in September 2010, the first of a brand new kind of school in the UK, with a focus on delivering high-quality engineering and business education.
Since opening we have been consistently successful - our Ofsted inspection in September 2018, recognised us as a “Good” school with “outstanding” features, including progress in mathematics, engineering and vocational courses and the dedication to keeping students safe and secure. Pupil numbers are growing - we have been oversubscribed every year, including for entry this September. Currently we cater for approximately 700 full time learners aged 13-18 as well as approximately 300 learners aged 16+ following apprenticeships.
We are now looking for a dynamic and inspirational individual to develop teaching and learning strategies within the science team and across the whole academy. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in partnership with some of the biggest names in engineering and design.
At KS4, learners follow an integrated curriculum which is delivered through a series of engineering/business challenges in partnership with specialist teams from our challenge partners including JCB, Harper Adams University, HSBC, KPMG, National Grid, Network Rail, Toyota, Rolls Royce, Bosch Rexroth and Parker. Biology, chemistry and physics are all offered at A level.

The academy is located in Rocester, Staffordshire in an adapted and renovated mill, built by the famous industrial entrepreneur and engineer, Richard Arkwright, in the late 18th century.
