Job overview

Hugh Christie School is a mixed all-ability school in Tonbridge, Kent, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2017.

We are seeking to appoint a talented and ambitious Teacher of English as a Lead Practitioner. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who is highly motivated and has a real passion for English and for sharing the best range of teaching skills across colleagues in the department.

The school has established a team of Lead Practitioners who are taking an increasing role in developing pedagogy across the school and beyond just their own departments. The successful candidate would be part of this group and be encouraged to train so to be formally accredited as a Lead Practitioner.

This is an excellent opportunity for a forward-thinking colleague who is passionate about training their colleagues, their subject and developing their leadership skills in a supportive and friendly school. The successful candidate would be expected to teach in order to model excellent learning but would also be allocated appropriate non-contact time to be able to support the development of their colleagues.

Hugh Christie recognises pupils can be successful in a wide range of different ways. The school is proud of the wide variety of experiences it provides to its pupils. The school day finishes early on a Friday as well as enjoying an extended half term break in October to support the wellbeing of our staff.

Further information is available on the school’s website www.hughchristie.kent.sch.uk

Alternatively, contact Mrs. N Riddle for a briefing pack on 01732 353544 ext. 242 or nriddle@tonbridgefederation.co.uk

Closing date: 27th March 2020

The college is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
