About Epping St John's

Welcome to the Epping St John’s website. It is a new dawn for our school as we move into our brand new, state-of-the-art building in September 2013. This has been the culmination of a great deal of determination and perseverance, two qualities, which have been in abundance at the school in recent years.

The outstanding new accommodation complements the excellent achievements witnessed at the school, the first of which coincided with the Secretary of State’s decision in December 2006 to allow the building to go ahead. Earlier that year the school had secured its first “Good” OFSTED judgement, which has been followed by two further “Good” OFSTED judgements in 2009 and 2012. GCSE examination success has also been remarkable over the last four years. 33% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths in 2009. This has risen significantly to 65% by 2013, with 93% of students also achieving A*-C grades in all subjects last year.

It is with great pride therefore, that we are beginning life in our new high-quality accommodation at a time, when the quality of education provision at the school has never been better. The school community at Epping St John’s is strong and is founded on our Christian values of respect and tolerance. We strive to work closely with parents and families and see the school as being at the heart of its community. We have an active School Association including parents, teachers and support staff, who work tirelessly to support the school to improve experiences for current and future generations of students.

Our inspirational learning environment will serve as a platform for the school to focus on a new learning and teaching framework, which will make the best use of all the new technologies we can enjoy and the wide range of learning spaces, which exist within the school. We want our students to become more independent, taking greater responsibility for their learning, to find solutions, by challenging themselves to explore and investigate with the help and support of teachers and many other resources available to them.

We expect to offer Sixth Form A Level provision by September 2015 at Epping St John’s, which will give local parents the confidence and security of continued and sustained high-quality education beyond 16 for their children. This will mark another achievement amongst the school’s many recent successes.

A strong, caring school community based on Christian values, GCSE examination achievement rising rapidly, successive “Good “OFSTED judgements, an iconic new building and a Sixth Form. There has never been a better time to be part of the Epping St John’s Community!

Together we can make a difference!
