As a rapidly improving school we are delighted to be able to offer this exciting opportunity for an outstanding Maths teacher to provide both excellent teaching and deliver outstanding GCSE outcomes in a Lead Practitioner role. Based at Bilton School in the first instance the successful candidate will work with the Maths department to ensure that all students, but most specifically those in year 11 meet progress targets.

We offer:

  • An opportunity to join a school on a journey to gaining a Good outcome at its next inspection
  • Excellent career development opportunities
  • An environment where there are positive relationships between students and staff
  • Modern facilities teaching and learning facilities

It is a particularly exciting time to join us as we recently became part of the Stowe Valley MAT, led by Southam College (an Ofsted Outstanding school). This exciting development has further enhanced our ability to offer inspirational and supportive leadership and CPD for all of our staff. Since the trust took control of the school in April 2017 following a Special Measures Judgement there have been considerable changes to school ethos, staffing and systems. The impact of these changes is that the school is rapidly moving to Good. This appointment will help further us get there.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious school and department. We welcome colleagues who really want to make a difference to the lives of young people and who share in our passion for engaging students in learning and inspiring them to achieve. Headteacher

Ranjit Samra

Values and vision

Southam College actively seeks to promote British values within an atmosphere of respect, tolerance and the celebration of difference. Students are encouraged to develop moral skills and an awareness of philosophical questioning.

The secondary school’s Life Skills curriculum focuses on parliamentary democracy, in order to develop an understanding of the freedoms afforded to citizens of a democracy and the consequences of an undemocratic society.

Students’ appreciation of democracy is further enhanced by the fact that they have the opportunity to be elected to an active student council. They are also taught about democracy during year-group assemblies.

Ofsted report

“Teachers plan lessons which are at the right level of difficulty for students and which result in all students making excellent progress. Students receive effective feedback from teachers which helps them to improve their work very well. Students feel safe at the school and they have a strong understanding of safety matters. The headteacher has high expectations of all staff and students. These expectations are shared by all leaders. Consequently, students have appropriately high expectations of themselves.”
