An exciting opportunity has arisen at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy for an exceptional Lead Practitioner of English to work with an experienced and highly motivated team of professionals.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Lead Practitioner of English who will support the department to continue to achieve excellent outcomes for our students. We are looking for the right candidate who will possess the key knowledge, attributes and skills to deliver engaging and informative lessons that motivate and enthuse the students at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy to invest in their learning.

• fully 'buy in' to using IRIS and regular drop-in feedback as a mechanism to improving their day-to-day performance as a teacher.

• have the ability and desire to deliver exceptional teaching and learning.

• be a dynamic practitioner with a relentless desire to drive up educational standards and deliver exceptional outcomes for all cohorts of pupils.

• have excellent subject knowledge and be able to teach English effectively across the KS3 – KS5, age and ability ranges.

• have a track record of delivering clear impact with their own classes.

• have a true growth mindset, exceptional work ethic and a sense of humour.

• have the knowledge and experience of the context in which Sir Thomas Wharton Academy operates.

Sir Thomas Wharton Academy is a good secondary school of over 1100 students with a thriving and growing collaborative Post 16 provision. The Academy joined Maltby Learning Trust on 1st April 2017 and secured an OFSTED Good judgement in September 2021. We are now oversubscribed each year and we are very fortunate to be housed in a new building with state-of-the-art facilities.
