Job overview

More than just a school, Pool Hayes Academy is a genuine community hub for Willenhall. At the heart of Academy Transformation Trust, we’re growing rapidly and achieving impressive results – in fact, we’re among the best performing schools in Walsall. We’ve recently secured our first Good ratings for Leadership and Management, Personal Development, Behaviour & Welfare and 16 to 19 Study Programmes – and we have some ambitious plans for the future.

Shaping and implementing a curriculum that’s varied, inclusive and above all exciting, you will make History a subject of choice for students of all abilities. We will look to you to coach and develop your colleagues to become exceptional classroom practitioners, capable of delivering highly effective lessons and well-judged schemes of work, whilst accelerating our journey towards Outstanding. At the same time, you will lead tutor and mentor groups to give pupils the edge, sharpen provision for those with Additional Needs, and foster a culture of high ambition and exceptional achievement.

Already an impressive teacher and leader, you will be seeking the autonomy to demonstrate what you can really do. Building productive, mutually respectful working relationships and stimulating students to achieve their full potential should be second nature to you, and you will be adept at deploying diverse teaching strategies to connect with pupils from every walk of life. Most importantly, you will bring a clear sense of direction to our History teaching – inspiring students to learn from the past as they stride into the future.

In return, you can expect heavy investment in your CPD and plenty of scope for career development within our rapidly expanding Academy or the Trust’s network of schools.
