LEAD PRACTITIONER, SCIENCE

L6-L10 £45,632 - £50,286

Required for January 2019, a dynamic, well-qualified and committed Lead Practitioner to join our Science department. This is both an exciting opportunity to join our extended Senior Leadership Team and an excellent preparation for future senior leadership positions. We would also welcome applications from candidates who feel they have the qualities of an emerging Lead Practitioner.  Ideally, the successful applicant will have a subject focus in Chemistry.

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is a school where students achieve well and are part of a strong, caring community. Our school’s ambition was recognised by Ofsted in May 2016 when it was stated that, “School leaders are ambitious.  They want the school to become outstanding and they are doing the right things to achieve this.”

In 2018, our A Level results place us in the top 25% of schools nationally with 45% of grades at A*B and two students securing a place at Cambridge University. We also continue to deliver strong outcomes in vocational courses.

Our GCSE results saw 48% of students achieve a grade 4 in both English and Maths with 63% of students achieving a standard pass in English and 55% of students achieving a standard pass in Maths. The number of students achieving the best possible grade of 9 increased in both subjects.

The successful candidate will join a supportive Science team and continue the excellent work already underway. The Science Department currently consists of ten full time teachers and four subject specific technicians, who are clearly focused on raising standards of teaching to “outstanding” and ensuring all pupils make excellent progress. Our A2 results for 2018 were Physics 100% A* - E, 100% A* – B, Chemistry 100% A* - E, 67% A* - B, Biology 100% A* - E, 63% A* - B and our GCSE results were Physics 69% 9* - 4, Chemistry 76% and Biology 69%. Trilogy Science saw 37% of grades at 9-4 and overall, 43% of students achieved two standard passes in Science.

We are keen to appoint dedicated colleagues who are eager to support our students to achieve in all aspects of their school life and who want to be key contributors to our school’s success.

We encourage visits from prospective candidates to meet members of our school community and to experience our school at first hand. If you would like to do this please contact Ann Pullin, PA to the Headteacher on 01268 627848 or via email to recruitment@bromfords.essex.sch.uk

A recruitment package, including financial assistance and benefits, is available.

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be offered a position subject to full pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure.
