Job overview

Do you want to be part of an internationally-minded, collaborative and inclusive school, supporting a team of Primary teachers to maintain best-practice in teaching languages? The suitable candidate should be experienced in leading others, have excellent communication skills and be a dynamic practitioner.

Nexus is located in Putrajaya, near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Established in 2008 as part of the Taylor’s Education Group, we currently enrol 700 students from Early Years to Year 13 who learn through the IEYC, IPC, IGCSE and IBDP curricula. We have an inclusive admissions policy and you can expect to teach learners with learning and language needs as well as exceptionally academic and talented children.

The student population is made up of over 30 different nationalities giving our school a truly global character. Previous international experience is not required, but the desire to work in a diverse international community is essential. All staff are also expected to contribute to the co-curricular programme. Nexus is committed to developing personalised learning so that all learners, given their individual gifts and talents, are challenged and make progress.  As an Apple Distinguished School we expect all teachers to use technology in a transformative way to enhance learning.

As well as leading the Primary Languages Other Than English (LOTE) department and working closely alongside the Head of LOTE  (secondary), you will be expected to teach Mandarin across the school. The department follows the IGCSE and IB curricula in the secondary school. Experience of teaching IGCSE and knowledge of the IB programme will be advantageous. Mandarin is offered throughout secondary at both first language and foreign-language level.  You will also be involved in teaching Mandarin to our primary learners who begin from Year 1.

We provide a professionally stimulating and collaborative, well-resourced working environment with well-motivated students. We offer a  competitive salary and benefits package as well as outstanding professional learning opportunities.

For further details please refer to our website www.nexus.edu.my. To apply, please upload a full CV and covering letter, addressing the job description and including names and contact details for three referees (one being your current Headteacher/Principal) via the Apply Now link. Shortlisted candidates will be expected to provide a 20 minute YouTube or Vimeo video of themselves teaching a current class. (This will be for internal viewing only).  The closing date for applications is 10th February, however, the school reserves the right to make an offer before this date, thus early application is advised.

Nexus International School Malaysia is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the police authorities.

About Us

Nexus International School Malaysia was established in August 2008 as part of Taylor's Education Group.  Situated on the edge of Kuala Lumpur in Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia, our students come from expat, diplomatic and local families.  Our total enrolment of 700 covers Early Years to Year 13  and includes 70 boarders.

In primary, we follow the IPC curriculum and are one of only six schools accredited at Mastering level.  In secondary, our Middle Years curriculum is followed by  IGCSE and IBDP programmes.

We believe that pedagogy is constantly evolving and ensure that the latest teaching and learning methods are incorporated into our curriculum.  As an Apple Distinguished School we use technology in a transformative way to enhance learning.  All learners up to Year 6 have an Ipad and a 1:1 Macbook programme is in place in secondary.  Significant professional learning opportunities tare available to teachers.  We embrace diversity, recognising each student's individual culture as well as that of their host country, Malaysia.
