This is a fantastic opportunity to join a ‘good’ school

Ark Putney Academy opened in September 2012 as part of the Ark network in the London Borough of Wandsworth.  Ark Putney is a mixed school with 850 students, ranging from year 7 through to a very successful sixth form.

In its 2017 OFSTED inspection Ark Putney Academy was rated ‘Good’ in every category.

We have a very successful sixth form which is renowned in the local area.  We have a strong ethos, results are excellent and every year, we send large numbers of students to some of the best universities, including Oxbridge.

In 2015, we moved into newly renovated buildings that bring the main Grade II listed building up to a modern learning/teaching space and provides state-of the art facilities for our students and staff.

This is an exciting opportunity for a great teacher to help lead the development of outstanding maths teaching at Ark Putney, a rapidly growing Ark School.  The role would suit an excellent class practitioner, you will help us achieve our mission by creating and developing great teachers who will improve the life chances of our students.  If you are a specialist in Maths, with an interest in adding value, helping others improve and adding capacity across the network, you will be ideally suited to this role.

If you share our commitment to excellence, we want to hear from you.

Please submit your application by 11 am on Monday 14 October 2019.

Values and vision

At Ark Putney we have a holistic view of educating young people. Our mission statement is;

Preparing every student to be a pillar of any community

By this we mean that we are focusing on developing students to be the very best they can be in all aspects of their lives  not only through academic progress but also by developing the soft skills that will enable students to be successful in the world such as good manners and the ability to speak confidently combined with the desire to participate through sport, the arts and contributing to charity and community projects.

This can be illustrated by our core purpose, which is to provide students with:

  • An appreciation and curiosity for life and learning
  • The courage and ambition  to unlock and fulfil their potential
  • A desire to contribute to society in a positive way
  • A sense of self –awareness, combined with the integrity  to be compassionate towards others

The main drivers for this are our Six Pillars as listed below. These permeate academy life and can be seen in everything that we do, think and say at APA. They are also a focus of our assemblies, reflections and tutorial activities. They help to guide us in how we behave, what we do and what kind of people we want to be:

  • Effort
  • Team work
  • Community
  • Enthusiasm
  • Commitment
  • Independence

In March 2017, Ofsted rated the academy as good in every category and highlighted our students’ progress and achievement at GCSE and in sixth form. The full report can be read here.
