Job overview

Location: East Croydon, London — a ten-minute walk from East Croydon station

Start: September 2020

Opportunity for an exceptional teacher to be a founding middle leader, shaping a brand-new Ark secondary school in East Croydon

Ark Blake Academy welcomes its first year 7 cohort in September 2020 and will provide children in East Croydon with a first-class academic education, based on strongly held values, for generations to come.

We seek to transform lives through education. Our mission is to ensure that each of our pupils takes responsibility and fulfils their academic and personal potential, before moving on to continue their success, either at university or by beginning a rewarding career of their choice.

Exemplary behaviour and a distinctive ethos based on our strongly held values will create a climate for learning where teachers are supported to deliver exceptional lessons and where pupils flourish.

We are recruiting a founding team of exceptional staff to achieve our vision and work together to create a genuinely outstanding school. As a Lead Teach Music, you will work closely with the central Ark Music team to shape music provision at Ark Blake. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic individual who is passionate about music and committed to challenging every pupil to achieve their potential.

Teaching experience will not be a determining factor - we welcome applications from NQTs as well as more experienced candidates. We will develop every staff member that joins our team, providing one-to-one support, coaching and mentoring and access to extensive network training.

Middle leadership experience will not be a determining factor. The successful candidate will grow with our school: we will develop you, providing one-to-one support, coaching and access to extensive network training. You will also have an opportunity to collaborate on, and lead, network-wide projects.

This post will be part time (0.6) in our founding Year and will then develop with the Music in our school to a full-time position.

The ideal candidate will;

Have a strong academic background, with good A Levels or equivalent, and a good degree.

Combine subject matter expertise with a passion for Music.

Have the commitment, skills and character required to build a successful department.

Share the Ark Blake vision and be aligned with the six pillars underpinning it.

Be reflective about the department and Academy and committed to securing their continued development.

Value and support practices driving continued progress across the network of Ark schools.

To apply please go to https://arkblake.org/current-vacancies. Please submit your application by 24th February. For further information, a confidential discussion or any technical queries please contact Peter Shaw, the founding Principal, at Peter.Shaw@arkonline.org

Closing Date: Monday 24th February

Interviews:     Thursday 27th February

Salary:              ARK MPS £29,064 - £41,036 / UPS £43,078 - £46, 326 plus TLR

Contract:         Part-time hours, 0.6 one-year contract

We value diversity and are committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare. The successful candidate will be subject to DBS and any other relevant employment checks.
