Job overview

LEAD TEACHER

ICHK is looking to appoint a lead teacher from August 2020 to help set-up, launch and consolidate its +1 Centre, a facility aimed at supporting the education of students with pronounced individual needs in a secondary school setting.

The facility will launch in Term 2 of academic year 2020-21, initially with between 4 and 6 students.

We anticipate a staff team initially comprising a full-time lead teacher plus one Learning Support Assistant. Over the course of the next several years, we anticipate the facility expanding to cater for between 10 and 12 students with an associated growth in the staff team.

The initial appointment is on a two-year contract. Ideally candidates would envisage remaining for at least one further contract.

ICHK is a unique school, acclaimed globally for its innovative approaches, and set in the beautiful green New Territories of Hong Kong. We are committed to a deep and thoughtful consideration of what the best education should offer all young people given the context of the world in which they live. We conceive our role as equipping students to find and lead sustainable and satisfying lives.

This is an exciting opportunity to explore and develop emerging practice in secondary education and embark on a new project right from the inception, shaping practice and contributing to the vision of the school.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to play a role in a wider conversation within ICHK about the nature of schooling.

To find out more about this exciting new role, including salary details please contact Head of School Toby Newton at tnewton@ichk.edu.hk
