Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and inspirational classroom practitioner leading Economics teaching in the College. This is an opportunity to join one of the most high-achieving and forward-looking independent schools in London.

The Economics Department at Queen’s College is dynamic and flourishing. The number of students choosing Economics at A-level has grown in recent years. The department follows the AQA A-level Economics course. Pupils achieve highly and many go on to read Economics or Business-related undergraduate degree courses at Russell group universities. The Economics Department is part of the Humanities Faculty within the College and there are also opportunities to join the GSA Economics Cluster group to share subject expertise and best practice with Economics teachers across other girls’ independent schools.

There is flexibility as to whether the post holder would wish to make this a full or part-time (from 0.5 FTE)  position. As a full-time role, the role would be combined with teaching a further subject or an administrative function within the school. The role offers a competitive salary, dependent on qualifications, skills and experience, plus healthcare insurance (taxable benefit), free lunches in the Dining Room during term time and a wellness allowance.

A September start date is preferable, but applicants for a January start will also be considered.

As the first school in the UK to grant academic qualifications to women, Queen’s has a proud history of educating some of this country’s most pioneering women. This appointment represents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our English department and ensure we retain our position at the forefront of girls’ education.

Completed application forms should be sent via email to the Executive Assistant to the Principal, Ms Roisin Archer (rarcher@qcl.org.uk). Applications will be considered as they are received by the College and candidates may be invited to interview at any stage. Early applications are warmly encouraged.

Queen’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Queen’s College recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.
