Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious person who combines excellent teaching skills, an enthusiasm for the subject and an ability to inspire and motivate pupils. We need a person who will help us to continue the drive to improve our already good science results.

You will be a dynamic and innovative teacher, able to inspire and enthuse others. You will be ambitious and creative with a clear vision of how to deliver results. Wellfield was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in June 2018.

An £8.5million refurbishment was completed in the summer of 2014, resulting in an excellent learning environment offering state of the art facilities. Situated only 8 miles to the east of Durham City the school is well located for access to the A19 and A1(M). It is also within comfortable driving distance of affordable housing and areas of outstanding natural beauty. We benefit from a Beacon Nursery in the village.

Wellfield School is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Wingate, County Durham. It is a community state school that provides 1,200 places for students between the ages of 11 and 16 when fully subscribed.  Wellfield School is part of New College Durham Academies Trust.
