Job overview

A fantastic opportunity is awaiting you; the chance to design and shape innovative and creative PSHE and EDI curriculum and approach in a growing all-through academy. King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) is now looking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative lead teacher of PSHE and EDI to play an intrinsic role in our all-through academy in Bracknell Forest. At King’s Academy Binfield we have high expectations of our staff and value them highly.

Our all-through school opened in a superb new building in September 2018 and we have grown year on year with our first Year 11 students currently embarking on their GCSEs. In addition to the secondary phase, we also have two primary phases set across two sites, King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) and King’s Academy Oakwood (KAO). In September 2023, we will have students from year N to year 6 in primary and year 7 through to year 12 in our secondary phase as we open our 6th form provision.

We are seeking to appoint a committed, dynamic colleague who has the ability to work alongside a team of well qualified, dedicated teachers at our 'Good’ school where Pupils’ behaviour in lessons and around the school is typically very good. This post marks an exciting new direction for our approach to teaching PSHE and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion as we have moved towards a model of all students at KS3 benefitting from a discrete lesson of PSHE per week as part of their curriculum. This is in addition to our existing provision for KS4 students who have PSHE as part of their weekly tutor sessions. If you are successful, you will teach PSHE and lead it alongside our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at a whole-school level from years 7 to year 11.

We are looking for ambitious colleagues to join us on our exciting journey. The successful applicant will teach across the secondary phase, and as our primary phase continues to grow, will have the opportunity to help embed the continuation of education from the primary to secondary phase. You'll have a passion for people and embedding EDI work in order to build positive and inclusive working environments. You'll also have an understanding of systemic inequalities and be able to engage leaders in critical examination of systems and cultures that perpetuate inequality with any form of discrimination.

Applicants should be excellent teachers and have the ability to motivate, inspire and lead students to excel. The successful candidate will be a team player and will get stuck in and involve themselves in the wider aspects of academy life. A genuine commitment to our ‘whatever it takes’ ethos is essential to enable every young person at KAB and KAO to thrive. We know that people perform better when they can be themselves and in the battle for talent, we want to make sure we are attracting the best and most diverse staff around. We actively encourage applications from candidates from a wide range of backgrounds.

King’s Academy Binfield and King’s Academy Oakwood are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young students and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Our mission is to provide high quality education within a small community of outstanding schools in the UK that will deliver a transformative learning experience to all our students within the context of a global community of schools.

KGA has at its core the pursuit of the very highest standards both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all students can exceed their expectations no matter what their prior attainment and experience. In a KGA academy no student will be labelled, we will treat them all as intelligent individuals. Through our ethos, our extended curriculum, our entrepreneurial approach and international dimension, we will ensure students develop into confident, rounded individuals, equipped for life in an ever changing world.

We pride ourselves on listening and responding to the needs of our partner schools and guarantee any school within KGA the opportunity to help shape the future development of our MAT. In a King’s Group Academy, pupils will be able to achieve their personal ambitions and academic goals, with the added advantage and motivation of working alongside peers from other King’s schools around the world.

At KGA our aim is to build clusters of excellence, blending the best of British education with the experience and success gained in our international King’s Group schools. We see staff as our most valuable resource and our innovative approach to CPD enables them to fulfil their career potential, as well as prepare our pupils for a successful future.

King’s Group was founded nearly 50 years ago by Sir Roger Fry and includes nine outstanding schools both abroad and in the UK. With this excellent foundation, King’s Group Academies has been invited by the DfE to develop a MAT and use the expertise of our team to build and provide ongoing support to small networks of outstanding academies.

We share a determination to make a positive difference to the future of our young people, their families and the wider community, as well as to the careers of our staff. This is your invitation to join us.
