We are looking for an enthusiastic lead teacher to support students in gaining a good grasp of basic skills in numeracy and literacy. The successful candidate will be able to support and direct staff members in maximising students potential. This is a varied and challenging role requiring a flexible approach and the ability to offer wider curricula areas to young people who have often not had good experience of education.

  • You will be part of a small but dedicated team who offer individualised, young person centred timetables and programmes of learning

  • You will be self-motivated, experienced and prepared to go the extra mile

  • If you enjoy a varied working life then EP is just for you as no two days are the same!

Engaging Potential is an alternative education provider in Newbury for disengaged young people with special educational needs. Our mission is to re-engage them with learning opportunities and positive life experiences through mentoring, individual learning and social development.

We have a unique and wholly individualised approach to how we support our students. Timetables are bespoke and reflect the level in which a student is working and builds upon their interest – however, we have high aspirations for what our students achieve. We do this to ensure we “meet them where they are and not where we would like them to be”

Vision and Values

We recognise the potential within all young people, and we seek to release it by:

• Establishing relationships based on trust, consistency, honesty and respect

• Encouraging, engaging and motivating young people

• Making learning relevant and transferable

• Raising the expectations of young people

• Promoting active and experiential learning

Young person centred

We believe in meeting young people where they are, rather than where others want them to be. We aim to build up trust over time until a point where we can tailor programmes of positive activities and opportunities to meet and support their individual needs.

Encouraging positive change

We believe in building positive relationships based on trust, consistency and respect. These relationships aim to provide a safe environment for change giving young people the time to build the confidence to make positive choices in their lives.

Realistic approach

We believe in working with the young people to develop individual learning plans that are centred upon the young person’s aspirations, needs, abilities and learning style.

Consistency of delivery

We believe that continuity and consistency is essential for the well-being and development of young people.

Building of professional relationships

We believe in working in partnership with professional individuals, organisations and agencies to facilitate a holistic approach to working with young people.
