We are currently recruiting for a Lead Teaching Assistant. The post holder will report to the Additional Learning Support Manager and is expected to take responsibility for leading a team of Teaching Assistants as well as the support of a student (or students) with additional learning support needs. You will be required to liaise with external agencies regarding appropriate support as necessary inside and outside of lessons to students across the college’s 3 campuses. This role is key in shaping the way in which we work to meet the needs of students with additional needs across all our provision and campuses.

Main responsibilities

1. Leading a team of Teaching Assistants, and undertaking the line management of staff including supervision, appraisals and the quality assurance of teaching assistants in line with professional standards.

2. Organising cover where needed within the ALS team

3. Liaising with recruitment agencies to organise short and long-term cover and report this back to the ALS Manager 

4. Managing the completion of timesheets associated with agency staffing

5. Support student(s) with specific additional learning support needs in and outside of lessons, to include one to one and small group study sessions where required

6. Liaise with teaching staff or other relevant staff to cater for individual student needs both within lessons and in study time 

7. Contribute to the production and dissemination of specific risk assessments and other documentation relating to the support of students with SEND

8. To work alongside the SEND and Transition officer to undertake student transitions to college

9. To work with the SEND and Transition officer to ensure the collation of information for student EHCP reviews.

10. To work with and support where necessary the EHWB team, SpLD Specialist Teacher and ASC Specialist Tutor to effectively support students during transition and during their study programme

11. Contribute to the organisation, design and delivery of CPD for staff

12. Support student examination access arrangements as appropriate

13. Support student(s) in use of pro-monitor software to help them manage their learning (Including target setting and monitoring in matters relating directly to their support)

14. Guide students around the college site as and when directed to by the Line Manager

15. Contribute to a team approach covering the roles of other ALS team members.

16. Support student based events such as interviews, open evenings, tasters and pre enrolment as well as enrolment 

17. To carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required to include induction of students, administrative tasks associated with the post and attending team meetings as required

19. Work flexibly, undertake training and development, and undertake such other tasks as may be required or directed from time to time to meet the needs of the College
