An exciting opportunity has arisen at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy for an exceptional Leader of Alternative Provision to work with an experienced and highly motivated team of professionals.

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, inspirational, and dynamic professional to lead the Alternative Provision, including curriculum, at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy.

The successful candidate will have a 50% teaching timetable and will lead our dedicated team of professionals who run our alternative provision, this includes three full time support staff who are solely based in exceed to support with students’ welfare. The successful candidate will also be supported by curriculum specialists who deliver the lessons within the alternative setting.

·    have the skills and personal qualities to lead the Alternative Provision within the Academy

·    fully 'buy in' to using IRIS and regular drop-in feedback as a mechanism to improving their day-to-day performance as a teacher.

·    have the ability and desire to deliver exceptional teaching and learning.

·    be a dynamic practitioner with a relentless desire to drive up educational standards and deliver exceptional outcomes for all cohorts of pupils.

·    have a track record of delivering clear impact with their own classes.

·    be a team player and work closely with other professionals to develop and implement effective strategies to break down barriers and maximise achievement and to ensure systems and processes are rigorously adhered to.

·    have a true growth mindset, exceptional work ethic and a sense of humour.

·    be committed to Maltby Learning Trust's Vision and Values and the Academy's Key Drivers.

·    have the knowledge and experience of the context in which Sir Thomas Wharton Academy operates.

Sir Thomas Wharton Academy is a good secondary school of over 1100 students with a thriving and growing collaborative Post 16 provision. The Academy joined Maltby Learning Trust on 1st April 2017 and secured an OFSTED Good judgement in September 2021. We are now oversubscribed each year and we are very fortunate to be housed in a new building with state-of-the-art facilities.
