Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic teacher of Modern Foreign Languages to lead Key Stage 4 in our large and successful department. The position offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious teacher who is keen to develop an innovative and exciting curriculum at Key Stage 4 in Modern Foreign Languages.

At Little Heath School, Modern Foreign Languages is taught in all three Key Stages. At Key Stage 4, students may choose to study GCSE French, German or Spanish. At Key Stage 5 students may study for A Levels in French, German and Spanish. Whole school plans are underway for a new and exciting skills based foundation curriculum, in which the MFL department will play a crucial role.

The successful candidate must be able to teach Spanish up to A Level and will join our diverse and highly experienced department. You will be joining a team committed to further developing the profile of Modern Foreign Languages in the curriculum, where teachers are continually looking for ways to make their teaching creative and engaging. We are also keen to further develop the range of foreign trips that we offer to our students. The position would be suitable for an experienced teacher. In addition, the ability to offer French or German would be an advantage but is not essential.

Little Heath School is a highly successful comprehensive school (1650 on roll, including 380 in the Sixth Form) situated in a pleasant semi-rural setting to the west of Reading, with good access to road and rail links. As a school, we pride ourselves on our strong Professional Development programme, believing that teachers need to be able to develop their own practice collaboratively with others. We have recently been awarded the prestigious Research Mark award in recognition of the quality of evidence-based research in our work.
