We are looking for an excellent teacher of English who is passionate about their subject and can teach across the ability range. Someone who can show evidence of visible impact on learner outcomes in their current post and who will have the capacity to continue to raise attainment in a high performing department through motivating and inspiring learners and staff.

It is imperative that you have the ability to support your team, share best practice, lead by example, and raise standards in teaching, learning and assessment across the college.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding subject knowledge, along with good communication skills. This post is ideally suited for someone who is ambitious and is looking for the next step in his or her career. Good leadership skills, motivation and commitment will be required to achieve ambitious targets and exceed expectations. You will be someone thoroughly committed to making a difference to learners’ lives.

It is desirable that you have to have working knowledge and delivered Essential Skills Qualification (ESQ) Communication up to level 2, but not essential as training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.

Candidates will hold a subject specific degree and have significant successful experience of delivering GCSE English Language with a record of accomplishment of excellent outcomes that are above national comparators. You may have experience in leading a team, holding responsibility within your department, or be able to demonstrate the potential of being an effective leader at interview.

Over recent years, we have had significant success in appointing staff moving across from school settings. We understand that the move into FE can be daunting at first, but we provide significant support and guidance at every step of the way. If you wish to talk to staff who have made the transition from school to further education, or to receive further information about the post, you are welcome to contact the Head of English & Mathematics, Mark Harding.

Applications may be submitted in Welsh and will not be treated less favourably than applications submitted in English.
