Job overview

This is an exciting time to join the Compass School community and continue to expand and strengthen our MFL provision. Eighty percent of the students at Compass School Southwark currently study French or Spanish at GCSE, having chosen their preferred subject in Y8. The appointed person would be leading the languages team into our first year of public examinations.

We are looking for an inspirational Leader of MFL who can build the profile of languages across the school, ensuring that the French and Spanish curriculum are enjoyed by our students, and that both subjects help to enrich and broaden the experiences of our students, allowing them to explore languages and appreciate the value of being able to speak additional languages in their futures. Though eighty percent of students are required to study either French or Spanish to GCSE, we want our students to proactively choose these subjects rather than be forced.

Students study a minimum of two hours per week of languages (French and Spanish) at Compass School Southwark, with three hours per week at GCSE. The appointed person would be responsible for developing the teaching, learning and assessment across both languages, and ensuring that the curriculum is both rigorous and inspiring.
