Are you a current or aspiring middle leader?  Are you seeking a new challenge, leadership opportunities or the next step in your career path?

We are seeking to appoint a driven, innovative and inspiring Leader of RE to deliver a curriculum that is exciting, innovative and diverse.  The successful candidate will ensure an excellent provision of RE across the school and ensure are students are positively engaged in learning and make progress.

Biddick Academy is a thriving, oversubscribed secondary school conveniently located 10 minutes’ drive from Newcastle and Durham. We are passionate about education and believe that all students can and should achieve their full potential. Our extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities motivates students to aim high. The academy enjoys an excellent reputation within the local community and has a strong and distinctive ethos of being a safe place where we all promote and enjoy the highest individual achievement.

The successful candidate will have:

• Evidence of improving teaching and learning and raising achievement within RE;

• Ability to interpret and act on a wide range of key data to inform practice and expectations;

• An excellent knowledge of the RE curriculum and the ability to identify priorities and constructing an improvement plan within the subject;

• Excellent leadership skills and an ability to motivate, support and challenge staff as appropriate.

Biddick Academy is a co-educational secondary school based in Washington, near Sunderland, for students aged 11-16. 

In 1997, Biddick was one of the first 11 schools in England to become a specialist sports college. The academy’s facilities include a sports hall, a dance studio, a fitness suite, a gymnasium, a full-size 3G pitch, floodlit tennis courts, a theatre and ICT suites.
