Job overview

Twyford CE High School is seeking to appoint an inspirational leader for the highly successful Twyford Gospel Choir, which is at the centre of leading music worship in the school.  Members of the Gospel Choir lead the worship in their Year Group Communions each term and this is a central role of the choir.  The whole choir is an inspirational group which performs at concerts, services, open evenings and other school events. Outside school, the choir is in demand and has performed for Diocese of London Conference, competitions, and has been twice runner-up - and also overall winner - of the BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of Year.

This role includes leading weekly rehearsal on Tuesday afternoons, support for at least two communions per term (held on Thursday mornings), plus concerts and events.

This role would suit an existing Gospel Choir Leader with experience of leading and inspiring youth groups. The successful candidate would be committed to keeping the choir at heart of music worship in the school, and enabling the choir to promote the ethos of the school to a wider audience.

Some theological or RE training would desirable.

This role is currently based at Twyford CE High School, part of the Twyford CE Academies Trust. There may be scope to undertake additional responsibilities within the whole school singing strategy or for the role to extend to other Trust schools. This role could also be combined with the Vocal Coach and Choir Leader role for the Twyford Trust which is currently also being advertised, or with peripatetic vocal or instrumental tuition or training student-led bands.

About Twyford Church of England High School

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a compact CoE MAT which comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. Over a 10 year period it launched three new schools Ealing Fields, William Perkin and Ada Lovelace all of which have achieved progress outcomes ranking them in the top 1% of schools nationally, making TCEAT the highest attaining Trust in the UK. TCEAT aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the TCEAT operates on collaborative principles with some central services to achieve consistency of provision. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum from Yr 7 –Yr 13 which has been devised by staff within the four schools and we have a thriving 6th form co-ordinated across 3 of the school sites. The Trust is also the hub of Teach West London and prides itself on high quality, peer-led CPD within a dynamic culture of self-improvement.
