We encourage you to read our website very carefully and familiarise yourself with our 2014 Ofsted report, our prospectus, candidate information pack and application form for the post. What will be clear to you is that you are applying to an extremely successful school and one with a decided ethos of achievement. We moved, in November 2012, into a brand new £80 million school. The school became an Academy in September 2013 and was recognised by the Department for Education as a Teaching School in 2015. In 2017, the school’s results profile placed it in the top 5% of schools nationally for the sixth consecutive year. The school is committed to developing its teachers and to fostering the development of outstanding teaching. The school is a personalised community which is committed to creating careers for people. It is experienced in supporting NQTs as well as having success in fostering the careers of colleagues who join having taught in other schools or have had other careers.
Physical Education is an exciting, dynamic and important aspect of the school’s curriculum. The outstanding facilities which the school possesses give rise to a popular and varied extra-curricular programme which is supported superbly by students. Students study GCSE PE in vertical teaching groups comprising of students in Years 9, 10 and 11. This is common practice across all GCSE option subjects and it is enormously successful. The school’s PE team is thoroughly committed to PE outside usual lesson times and Duke of Edinburgh. Sports hours during holidays and weekends are an important part of school culture which extends students as athletes and individuals.
This permanent post is for a lead practitioner in PE. We hope to appoint a teacher whose commitment, skill, classroom control, rapport with students, talent in full range of sporting disciplines and innovative and imaginative approach to teaching can lead and give inspiration to others in the PE team. There is an expectation of modelling defined and agreed commitment on evening, weekend and holiday provision for other members of the team.
