Northern Education Trust (NET) is a charitable education Trust with an improving track record for school improvement. The Trust sponsors 21 academies; 10 secondary and 11 primaries across the North of England in eleven Local Authority regions.

An important part of the Trust’s strategy for school improvement is to increasingly grow the capacity for specialist outstanding practitioners. We are now looking to increase our team outstanding practitioners who would share their practice across the trust as Leading Skills Teachers/ Directors of Primary Learning. This role will be suited to someone who has a passion and knowledge of teaching math or English across the Primary age range and who can work closely with teachers coaching and mentoring to develop classroom practice and pedagogy. 

In the Primary phase across NET academies, the 2019 results showed that Year 6 children reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths matched the national result of 65%.  Whilst we are delighted with this result, we’re always looking to improve further 

Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Executive, you will be responsible for improving outcomes in the Primary phase across the Trust. This will be underpinned by our vision ‘We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for our children. By doing this, we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care’.

Working alongside other highly skilled Leaders/Directors, you will have responsibility for leading on development of teaching and learning across the Trust. You will be an outstanding teacher, who is able to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and be able to role model best practice. You will be passionate about providing quality education to children regardless of their background to ensure that they all receive the best quality education that they deserve. 

This role will be ideal for someone who absolutely loves teaching children but wishes to take the next step forward in their career development.  Working across more than one academy will give you the opportunity to develop as a leader whilst also broadening your knowledge and skills.  At Northern Education Trust, we have the most fantastic team who are keen to learn and share ideas!

Regular travel across the Trust Academies will be necessary in supporting curriculum leadership and teacher development throughout the Trust. Academies that this post would cover are: 

- Abbey Park Primary Academy (Halifax)

- Merlin Top Primary Academy (Keighley)

- Mount Pellon Primary Academy (Halifax)

- Ryecroft Primary Academy (Bradford)

- The Ferns Primary Academy (Bolton)
