Job overview

Learning Support is a well-established service that provides high-quality specialist in-house support, such as speech and language therapy, mental health and specialist teaching for specific learning difficulties. We are looking for Learning Support Workers to join our expanding team to provide consistent high quality in class support to learners, many of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan.

You will have a clear understanding of the educational impact of a wide range of specific learning difficulties and or disabilities. You will have an excellent range of strategies to support learners to achieve and develop independence on their journey to adulthood. You will have excellent mentoring and note-taking skills and a person centred approach.

As you will be supporting learners studying on a wide range of mainstream courses and from Level 1 to 3, you should have a level two qualification in English and Maths at grade C or equivalent.

The working hours will be h per weeks and will be spread across 5 days during term time (38 weeks per annum).

Carshalton College is a co-educational further education college based in Sutton. It is a non-denominational school.

The college has been an education provider for over 60 years. It is a major provider of full-time, part-time, apprenticeships, access, undergraduate and supported learning courses. 

The college is situated in an environment surrounded by parks and ponds, but within a proximity of the towns of Sutton and Croydon. It is accessible from all areas of south London and its transport links also allow its students to be in the centre of London within 30 minutes.
