The Position

The Learning Area Leader, Religious Education will work with the College Leadership Team and staff in strengthening the Catholic ethos of the College and in helping to continue to build a faith community, sharing common values and ideals; demonstrating an open, flexible and creative approach, working to ensure that the College’s Mission Statement and Values are reflected in practice across the Learning Area. The Learning Area Leader, Religious Education explicitly connects high quality teaching to student engagement, successful learning and positive student outcomes.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Oversee the Religious Education course provision to ensure exemplary pedagogy engages students in engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
  • Oversee the Religious Education learning and teaching program and provide a formative environment for improved teacher performance.
  • Set professional standards for teaching and learning within the learning area and develop the capabilities of team members to achieve those standards. 

The leadership appointment is for a two year term, with an ongoing teaching position associated with this appointment.

Parade college is an independent, Catholic secondary school for boys catering for students in years 7-12. Parade College has two campuses in the northern suburbs of Melbourne in Bundoora and Preston and currently has over 1900 students.

The college is a member of Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA), a national body of Catholic schools inspired by the founder of the Christian Brothers, Br Edmund Rice. The Preston campus caters for students from years 7-9 on a small campus setting and the Bundoora campus facilitates students from year 7-12.

The campuses at Parade College provide its students with a wide range of facilities to enhance learning and social experiences. The school has a 300-seat theatre, multimedia auditorium, a fitness centre available to staff and students, indoor sports centre, extensive IT facilities and resource centre, sports oval and basketball courts. The school also features specialised learning spaces for sciences, hospitality, creative arts and technology studies.

Curriculum

The curriculum at Parade College is based off the Australian Curriculum while retaining Victorian Curriculum priorities and approaches to education. The curriculum is separated into four levels that reflect the different years of schooling and senior students in years 11 and 12 have access to a wide range of VCE, VET and VCAL courses. Parade College offers subjects in English, Health and Physical Education, Humanities, Languages, mathematics, Science, Arts and Technology.
