Are you interesting in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? This is an exciting opportunity to become a Learning Assistant in this brand new academy.

About the Role

The ideal Learning Assistant will reinforce the excellent work of the teaching staff by supporting individuals or small groups both within and outside of the classroom environment. You will be a professional role model to the pupils, with the confidence to challenge and the creativity to motivate.

To be successful you must have:

· excellent communication skills

· the ability to provide support that is second to none

· experience of working with young people or children

· first rate team working skills

· a professional approach and high personal standards.

Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs would be advantageous. You will be joining a passionate group of colleagues who strive to achieve the best outcomes for pupils in all aspects of their lives.

About Us

Our new building is due to open in January 2018 and will provide 100 places for pupils (3-18) with a diagnosis of autism or Severe Learning Difficulties. We are located next to the Green Oaks Academy where we are currently located in the existing ‘outstanding’ DSP unit. The academy will grow each year until it reaches full capacity.

In return

You will join a team of committed staff who are dedicated to ensuring pupils are prepared for the years beyond education and are supported to pursue their dreams.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who wishes to work in a unique environment. The role will expose you to challenging situations involving pupils with significant special needs; therefore experience of working with children with Autism would be advantageous. The Trust also value continuing professional development and will ensure that you are given access to a variety of learning opportunities including training courses via the Learning Alliance and opportunities for sharing best practice. As this role is only required to work in term time only, it also offers the opportunity for a great work-life balance.

If you have a friendly and helpful outlook and enjoy working with both adults and children, we want to hear from you.

We do also have a fixed term position available; see the Trust website for more details.
