Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Learning Assistant to join Nethergate Academy - one of our academies that work with children and young people who have learning difficulties and complex needs, and their families. You will be joining a passionate group of colleagues who strive to achieve the best outcomes for pupils in all aspects of their lives.

You will reinforce the excellent work of the teaching staff by supporting individuals or small groups both within and outside of the classroom environment. You will be a professional role model to the pupils, with the confidence to challenge and the creativity to motivate. 

Nethergate Academy is a special academy in the City of Nottingham for 112 pupils with moderate and complex learning difficulties.The age range is from 5-19 years with a range of ability extending from P6 – L6. Many pupils have autism and some have SEMH needs.

You will be:

  • keen to learn with a positive outlook;
  • able to work on your own initiative;
  • experienced in working with children;
  • able to work as part of a team;
  • willing to undertake training;
  • enthusiastic and have the skills to challenge and motivate all our pupils;
  • ideally experienced in working with children with Special Educational Needs.

This role is for 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday and is required in term time plus two week; therefore this is reflected in the pro rata salary.
