Milton Abbey is a forward-thinking independent school which accepts a number of pupils with learning differences. We are expanding and have roles available in our Learning Development department.
We wish to appoint a Learning Development teacher - for immediate start, or January 2022. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with secondary age pupils with learning differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD or social and emotional difficulties.
We will also consider candidates who are NQT in any subject or graduates, or career changers, wishing to start in education by training in learning differences. For the right candidate full mentoring will be given by our Head SENCO with the aim of qualifying as a SENCO in future. Our Learning Development department is at the heart of our school and consists of 10 specialist teachers.
For the right candidate this position could be full time (comprising small group and 1:1 lessons, as well as co-curricular and boarding duties) or part time to approximately 20 hours per week Monday to Friday in the morning. Year-round accommodation may be available if needed, as is a pensionable salary, all meals during term time and approximately 16 weeks of holiday per annum.
Candidates must demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with young people; be organised, committed, self-directed and have a sense of humour.
This is a wonderful school to work at with friendly pupils and staff, 170 acres of grounds, sports pitches, a farm and woodland; all set in the heart of glorious Dorset countryside but only 2 hours from London. You will have access to all facilities, including a swimming pool, gym, golf course, mountain biking trails, horse riding and sailing.
Further details may be obtained from our website or from HR on 01258 880484 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications must be submitted on the School’s application form. Closing date: Tuesday 28th September.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the school reserves the right to appoint prior to the closing date.
Milton Abbey School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The appointment will be the subject of an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
