Learning Mentor for The Grove

Salary: Scale 5 (pro- rata) £24,462-£25,809 Actual £21496 - £22680

Employer: The Grove 

Location: Haringey

Contract Term: Term Time 36 hours x 40 weeks (some flexibility to work outside school hours)

Start Date: March 2020 or as soon after

The Grove school is a new special school for young people with autism which opened in its brand new site in September 2019.

We wish to appoint a Learning Mentor who will join our expanding team and work alongside some of our most vulnerable SEMH academically able autistic students. 

We are looking for someone who has an outstanding track record and is ready for an exciting new challenge, someone who is dynamic and will take the lead in developing school wide approaches to support behaviours that challenge. You will be a positive role model to the pupils and staff. 

The successful candidate will make an important contribution to the school ethos. Their role will include supporting students on a daily basis, supporting small learning groups, working with staff to ensure an inclusive approach and working collaboratively to support the learning needs of students on the autistic spectrum.

The successful candidate will have:

● Experience of working with students with additional needs including    autism

● Experience of working with SEMH pupils and the challenges that this presents

● A flexible and proactive approach to supporting students

● Ability to communicate well with students, teachers and adults

● Completion, or the readiness to complete, the LSA induction programme

● Some understanding of the issues relating to child development and inclusion

● A commitment to safeguarding children.
